It was this experience that would set the course of his professional life. Dr. Bovard completed his residency in Baltimore at St. Agnes Hospital, a Johns Hopkins University affiliate hospital that was home to Maryland’s most successful and prolific bariatric program.

Dr. Bovard has been in private practice since 2005. He is board-certified in general surgery, with a specialization in bariatric surgery.  In his first 2 years, he modernized a failing practice in Salisbury, MD, bringing it into the 21st century by offering minimally invasive surgery and additional surgical options for patients. Dr. Bovard worked to restore public and medical community opinion of the safety and efficacy of weight loss surgery. At the end of his tenure in Salisbury, his practice was the premier regional bariatric practice in the area, drawing patients from far and wide.
